The first round of the brand new Coventry League was a huge success at Hearsall Common this evening, despite a significant downpour towards the end.
With 30 riders taking to the track across 5 divisions, spectators were treated to some excellent 6 rider races, which delivered plenty of thrills and spills.
It took a last heat decider in the 20th race of the evening to decide the match with just 2 points separating the three sides.
Brandon’s Cameron Gill did enough to bring home the league points with a race win for the Bees, securing overall victory by just a single point over Coventry 2, with Coventry 1 finishing three points adrift.
The evening saw debuts for new club night riders Chester, Yoanna, Joe and Lottie, all enjoying their first competitive matches.
They were not the only debutants, with the parents and family division serving up some of the most entertaining racing, as dads, sisters and family friends took to the track for a rare taste of the action. Judging by the smiles it won’t be the last!
All in all, an excellent night despite the heavy rain. The next round takes places on Friday 18 August at Hearsall Common.
