NEWS: Joy For Midlands In Women’s League

The Midland’s Women’s Cycle Speedway squad, including Coventry’s Bailie Phillips and Sammie Marsh, put in a terrific performance at Sheffield on Sunday afternoon to beat ‘The North’ by 26 points in a hotly contested affair.

The Midland’s side ran away with the meeting and totalled a superb 73 points. Sammie Marsh of Coventry scored 13+1 from her four rides in the meeting as she continues to make rapid progress in the sport.

Marsh is also out to defend her intermediate national title. She scored a near faultless 15 points from her four rides and was runner up in the ‘A’ Final. Meanwhile teammate Bailie Phillips rode well to score 12 points from her four rides and consequently went on to win the ‘B’ final.

Though the Coventry side wasn’t in action today it was good to see such positive results up and down the land as Myke Grimes helped Sheffield to a 90-85 win on the road at Sheffield.
